Beaufighter T4984 was built to contract B.41906/39 by Fairey Aviation Ltd. at Heaton Chapel, Stockport and was awaiting collection in January 1942. The aircraft was initially placed in MU storage before being taken on charge by 2 (c)O.T.U. at Catfoss on an unknown date. As a result of the damage sustained at Catfoss on 18th February 1943 Cat.B/FA damage was the damage assessment and it was taken away by road to be repaired by General Aircraft Ltd. at their Hanworth factory. On completion of repair it was taken on charge by 9 (c)O.T.U. at Crosby on Eden. On 11th August 1944 this unit disbanded so this aircraft was placed in long term MU storage pending disposal. It was struck off charge on 26th March 1945.
