Beaufighter T4754 was built to contract B.41906/39 by Fairey Aviation Ltd. at Stockport and was awaiting collection in June 1941. It was taken on charge by 248 Squadron at Bircham Newton soon after they began conversion from Blenheims in July 1941 where it was coded "-P" and was being used by them operationally from August 1941. It was later coded "-R" and remained with 248 Squadron until at least the end of April 1942. The published Air Britain history of the aircraft states it then served with 235 Squadron at Sumburgh but in May 1942. Given it was Mk.I variant and this squadron was flying later variants not long later it probably only stayed with 235 Squadron only briefly. It was then placed in MU storage until being taken on charge by 2 (C)O.T.U. at Catfoss. As a result of the crash near Catfoss on 21st January 1943 the aircraft was written off with Cat.E2/FA being the damage assessment.
