On 27th October 1943 this aircraft was being flown on a ferry flight by a member of No.7 Ferry Pilot Pool of the ATA when the exhaust manifold on the starboard side of the engine burst in the air. This caused part of the engine to be damaged by the heat and resulting burning. The pilot made a landing at Catterick airfield at 14.10hrs without further damage occurring.
