Spitfire P8083 at "Holme" airfield (probably Holme on Spalding Moor airfield).
The AM Form 1180 for this incident is very vague, hard to read the writing and it states that there was no AM Form 765c created. It appears to state that at 15.30hrs on 5th April 1943 this Air Fighting Development Unit (A.F.D.U.) aircraft was taxying at "Holme" but not on the runway and ran into a soft patch (presumably) in the grass. Normally with Spitfires this resulted in the tail tipping into the air and the propeller hitting the ground. The AM Forn 1180 doesn't state what damage was sustained in this case. The A.F.D.U. had their base at Duxford until April 1943 before moving to Wittering. They undertook flying all around the country.
Pilot - S/Ldr Hugh Charles Kennard DFC RAF (40396).
