After assembly it was issued to 27 MU on 12th February 1940. It was then taken on charge by 269 Squadron on 25th April 1940. On paper a day later it was transferred to No.1 (C)OTU but whether this happened is not clear. It's AM Form 78 states it was back with 269 Squadron on 10th May 1940. It was taken on charge by No.1 (C)O.T.U. at Silloth on 29th April 1941 and moved with the unit to Thornaby on 22nd March 1943. After the accident at Thornaby on 23rd September 1943 Cat.Ac/FA damage was the initial damage assessment. 83 MU then began a repair on site with the aircraft but they re-assessed it as Re-Cat.B on 27th September 1943. Cunliffe Owen then collected the aircraft for a repair in works but they then further re-assessed it on 17th December 1943 as Re-Cat.E and it was struck off charge.
