Defiant N1695 was built to contract 751807/38 by Boulton & Paul Ltd. at Wolverhampton and was awaiting collection in August 1940. It was taken on charge by 307 Squadron around the time they formed at Kirton in Lindsey in September 1940. It remained with 307 Squadron as they moved around the country for some months, to Jurby on 7th November 1940, to Squires Gate on 27th January 1941, to Colerne on 26th March 1941 and to Exeter on 26th April 1941. In August 1941 307 Squadron ceased operating the type of aircraft so it was placed in MU storage. On an unknown date it was converted to Target Towing specification and was then taken on charge by 1484 Target Towing and Gunnery Flight. On 18th December 1942 the unit was re-designated 1484 (Bombing) Gunnery Flight and as a result of the mishap on 26th February 1943 minor Cat.A/FA damage resulted in a repair on site. It was later taken on charge by the newly formed 667 Squadron at Gosport around the time they formed on 1st December 1943. By January 1945 it was in MU store pending disposal. It was struck off charge on 28th March 1946.
