Martinet MS549 at Dalton airfield.
On 29th December 1943 this 1691 (Bomber) Gunnery Flight aircraft landed safely at Dalton airfield, as the pilot turned the aircraft at the end of the landing run he noticed another aircraft making an approach to land so turned the aircraft onto the grass to clear the runway. Unfortunately the ground the aircraft ran onto was soft and the starboard undercarriage leg collapsed damaging the starboard wing.

The pilot was probably John Loranger who had earlier served with 405 Squadron. Born in March 1917 he died in October 2010.
