At 16.10hrs on 22nd November 1943 this aircraft was being ferried by a 7 Ferry Pilot Pool pilot of the ATA and was in the process of making a landing at Sherburn in Elmet airfield but was flying towards the setting sun. As the aircraft was about to land the port wing struck a post on the edge of the runway which was marking the end of an unservicable part of the runway, the pilot managed to land the aircraft but the port wing sustained damage. The post was found to have been placed too close to the runway and was not a normal style of marker.
Pilot - 1st Officer (F/Sgt) Arthur John Hockley ATA (M.804) (RAF).
