Halifax LW241 at Pocklington airfield.
On 29th / 30th December 1943 the crew of this 102 Squadron aircraft undertook an operational flight to bomb Berlin. The crew took off from Pocklington airfield at 17.03hrs and released their bomb load over the target area from 18,000 feet. They landed safely at Pocklington airfield at 00.38hrs. While taxying around the airfield the aircraft swung to port, left the concrete and the port undercarriage ran into a ditch that was hidden in the grass. The port undercarriage was damaged and appears to have collapsed as the aircraft also sustained damage to the port propellers and wing.
