Halifax LK992 damaged in the air, landed at Tholthorpe airfield.
On the night of 3rd / 4th December 1943 the crew of this 434 Squadron aircraft undertook an operational flight to bomb Leipzig and took off from Tholthorpe airfield at 23.53hrs. While over the target area the aircraft was struck from above by falling incendiary bombs dropped from a higher flying aircraft and this aircraft received damage. Despite the damage the crew flew the aircraft back to base, landing at Tholthorpe at 09.13hrs.
