Halifax LK989 at Leeming airfield.
On the night of 25th / 26th November 1943 the crew of this 429 Squadron aircraft were to have flown an operational flight to bomb Frankfurt. At around 23.37hrs the aircraft was marshalled along the perimeter track at Leeming airfield prior to joining the line of aircraft to await take off. As the aircraft approached a taxying post Halifax LK694 of 427 Squadron left it's dispersal point and tried to get ahead of LK989 but the two aircraft collided. Both aircraft sustained damage and did not take off.
