Halifax LK968 at Tholthorpe airfield.

At 11.00hrs on 2nd November 1943 this 431 Squadron aircraft was being taxied close to a hanger at Tholthorpe airfield. Unfortunately an airman marshalling the aircraft on the ground waved the aircraft on but mis-judged the available space. The result was that the aircraft was taxied onto soft ground and the tail wheel became bogged down in mud. The aircraft appears to have also struck a hanger door with a wing in the course of getting stuck. Minor damage resulted.

Pilot - F/O John Maxwell Hill RCAF (J/7761).
