Halifax LK910 damaged in the air, landed at Holme on Spalding Moor airfield.
On the evening of 3rd November 1943 the crew of this 76 Squadron aircraft undertook an operational flight to bomb Dusseldorf and took off from Holme on Spalding Moor at 16.58hrs. The aircraft was over the target area at 19.49hrs and the crew released their bomb load from 19,500 feet. Whilst over the target area the aircraft was struck from above by falling incendiary bombs released by a higher flying aircraft and damaged. Despite the damage the crew were able to fly the aircraft safely back to where they landed at Holme on Spalding Moor at 21.48hrs.
