On 6th October 1943 this aircraft had been landed successfully at Sherburn in Elmet airfield at 11.10hrs following a ferry flight by an ATA pilot. During an inspection of the aircraft after landing a hole was found in one of the propeller blades and it was assumed that a stone had been picked up during either the engine run-up prior to taking off or during taxiing.
