On 7th February 1943 this 6 (C)O.T.U. aircraft taxied into Wellington DV884 at Thornaby airfield and both aircraft were damaged but were repaired within two weeks.

Wellington LB226 was built as a MkVIII torpedo bomber by Vickers at Weybridge to contract 71441/40. It was received by 12 MU on 21st November 1942 and was then delivered to 6 (c)O.T.U. on 30th December 1942. It suffered minor Cat.A/FA damage at Thornaby on 7th February 1943 and was soon repaired with it returned to 6 (C)OTU on 14th February 1943.On 31st May 1943 it was repaired on site by a team Vickers at Weybridge, returning to 6 (C)OTU on 3rd July 1943. On 7th September 1943 it was again repaired on site by a team from Vickers at Weybridge and returned to 6 (C)OTU on 12th September 1943. There is no indication on the aircraft's AM Form 78 that either damage was sustained by flying accidents. It continued to serve with 6 (c)OTU until 9nd February 1944 when it was put into storage at 18 MU. It was struck off charge on 21st March 1946 and sold as scrap on 31st August 1946.
