Halifax JD150 damaged by flak, returned to Pocklington airfield.

On the night of 29th / 30th May 1943 the crew of this 102 Squadron aircraft took off from Pocklington airfield at 22.30hrs to undertake an operational flight to bomb Wuppertal. During the course of the flight the aircraft received minor flak damage to the fuselage. Despite the damage the crew were able to bring the aircraft safely back to base and landed at Pocklington airfield at 04.15hrs.

Halifax JD150 was built to contract ACFT/1808/C4 by English Electric Co.Ltd at Samlesbury and was taken on charge as new by 102 Squadron at Pocklington on 15th May 1943. As a result of sustaining minor battle damage on both 30th May 1943 and then on 26th June 1943 Cat.A/FB damage was the damage assessment each time that then saw repairs on site each time. On 28th July 1943 the aircraft failed to return from Ops to Hamburg. Cat.E(m) damage was the damage assessment and it was struck off charge on 7th August 1943 having clocked up 93 hours total flying time from new.
