Halifax JD116 at Lissett airfield.

On 17th June 1943 this 158 Squadron was flown on a practice bombing flight. Not that long after taking off the port outer failed in flight then the starboard inner. After a forty five minute flight the aircraft made a cross wind landing at Lissett at 14.32hrs, unfortunately it left the runway and struck an engine stand causing minor damage. Considering the difficult conditions the pilot was credited with making a "good show"

Pilot - F/Sgt Barrington Horsfield Marshall RAFVR (1081245).
