Halifax JB875 damaged on Ops, landed at Breighton airfield.

On the night of 12th / 13th July 1943 this 78 Squadron undertook an operational flight to bomb Aachen. The aircraft took off from Breighton at 23.39hrs and the crew released their bomb load at 02.05hrs from 19,500ft on target markers though the bombing results were not seen. The aircraft was struck by incendiaries dropped by a higher flying aircraft while over the target area and received minor damage. A safe return to base was made and they landed at Breighton at 05.47hrs.
