Halifax HX237 at Leconfield airfield.

At 11.55hrs on 25th November 1943 the crew of this 466 Squadron aircraft were to take off from Leconfield airfield to undertake a training flight but as the aircraft picked up speed it swung off the runway and the undercarriage collapsed. The pilot's crew was probably his regular 466 Squadron crew.

Pilot - F/O Hugh Alastair Yuille Barkley RAFVR (131052).

Crew - Names unconfirmed.

Hugh Barkley his crew were killed on 15th February 1944 when Halifax LW585 crashed on return from Ops near Ravenscar on the North York Moors. I have a detailed account of this more serious accident on my website at the following link.
