Halifax HX235 at Catfoss airfield.
On 1st December 1943 the crew of this 466 Squadron aircraft took off from Leconfield at 16.38hrs to undertake a mine laying flight to the Terschelling area. Poor weather and visibility on their return to Yorkshire resulted in them trying to land at Catfoss but on landing at 19.50hrs the aircraft swung off the runway, overshot and came to rest with the undercarriage collapsed.
