Halifax HR716. Aircrew injured on Ops. Landed at Lissett airfield.

On the night of 22nd / 23rd September 1943 this 158 Squadron undertook an operational flight to Hanover. The aircraft took off from Lissett airfield at 19.02hrs and released their bomb load over the target area from 20,000 feet at 21.40hrs. While over the target area at 21.45hrs the pilot was forced to take violent evasive action to avoid a collision with another Allied aircraft. In taking this avoiding action the flight engineer was thrown off his feet and was injured. The crew flew back to Lissett and landed at 00.38hrs.
