Wellington HE375 at Dishforth airfield.
On 13th June 1943 this 426 Squadron aircraft was damaged in a night landing at Dishforth following a training flight. The pilot was new to 426 Squadron and was undertaking his first night landing, overshot and crashed into the boundary hedge.
Pilot - P/O David R DeBloeme RCAF (J/17502).
Crew - Names unknown.
P/O DeBloeme and his crew arrived at 426 Squadron from 23 OTU on 10th June 1943. On 24th November 1943 David DeBloeme had converted to Lancasters and was flying Lancaster LL629 on an operational flight when the aircraft was badly damaged by flak. On the return to Yorkshire the aircraft crashed into high ground on the Yorkshire Wolds and two of his crew were sadly killed.
