Martinet EM552 at Scorton airfield.
During the morning of 21st December 1943 this aircraft was being flown by a pilot of No.7 Ferry Pilot Pool of the ATA. At 11.05hrs the pilot attempted a landing at Scorton airfield in a cross wind, he overshot the runway and ran into an area containing mud which saw the aircraft wheels sink and it tip on its nose. The pilot was still a member of the RAF but transferred to the ATA in May 1944.
