Beaufighter EL333 at Catfoss airfield.
On 1st May 1943 this 2 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit aircraft swung on landing at Catfoss airfield. It sustained damage to the starboard mainplane, aileron and flaps, the starboard undercarriage and the underside fuselage, the port undercarriage was strained and the starboard engine was deemed shock loaded.

Beaufighter EL333 was built to contract B.65570/40 by the Bristol Aeroplane Company Ltd. at Old Mixon and was awaiting collection in August 1942. The date the aircraft was taken on charge by 2 (C)O.T.U. at Catfoss is not yet known. As a result of the crash at Catfoss on 1st May 1943 Cat.Ac/FA was the damage assessment and it was repaired on site. The aircraft is believed to have remained with the 2 (C)O.T.U. until it was disbanded on 15th February 1944. After this it would have been placed in MU store pending disposal. It was struck off charge on 25th October 1945.
