Beaufighter EL327 (probably) at Catfoss airfield.

On 4th July 1943 this aircraft is mentioned in the 2 (C)O.T.U. unit record book as taxiing into a ditch. Both undercarriage legs were described as being broken which then damaged both mainplanes, the sternframe and both engines were shockloaded. The location of the incident is not yet known but it was probably at Catfoss where 2 (C)OTU were based.

Beaufighter EL327 was built to contract B.65570/40 by the Bristol Aeroplane Company Ltd. at Old Mixon, Weston-super-Mare and awaiting collection in August 192. The date it was taken on charge by 2 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit at Catfoss is not yet known. As a result of minor damage sustained on 28th February 1943 and 4th July 1943 minor Cat.A(C)/FA resulted each time with repairs being made on site at Catfoss. On 15th February 1944 the aircraft was placed in MU storage when the unit disbanded and it was struck off charge on 27th November 1945.
