On 20th February 1943 this No.2 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit aircraft burst a tyre on landing at Catfoss airfield, both undercarriage mainplanes and both engines were recorded in the Catfoss ORB as being shockloaded.

Beaufighter EL266 was built to contract B.65570/40 by the Bristol Aeroplane Company Ltd. at Old Mixon. It was flown to 27 MU at Shawbury on 31st July 1942 and was then taken on charge by No.2 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit on 16th August 1942 at Catfoss. As a result of the mishap at Catfoss on 20th February 1943 the damage was assessed as being Cat.B so, on 2nd April 1943 it was transported to the Lancashire Aircraft Corporation Ltd. at Samlesbury for a repair in works. On 3rd October 1943 it was taken on charge by No.1 T.T.U. at Turnberry. On 30th November 1943 it went to 19 MU at St.Athan and on 5th December 1943 it was transferred to 46 MU at Lossiemouth. On 15th June 1944 it was taken on charge by No.132 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit at East Fortune. On 26th August 1945 the aircraft went to 46 MU at Lossiemouth and it was struck off charge on 27th September 1945.
