Beaufort DX155 (probably) at Catfoss airfield.

On 16th May 1943 the 2 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit / Catfoss orb states that Beaufort DX155 suffered the failure of the tail oleo strut, this damaged the stern frame and the rudder of the aeroplane. Without locating any further accident record for this incident I presume it occurred at Catfoss airfield.

Crew - Names unknown.

Beaufort DX155 was built to contract B.136959/40 by the Bristol Aeroplane Company Ltd. at Filton and was awaiting collection in March 1943. The aircraft was immediately taken on charge by 2 (C) O.T.U. at Catfoss but the date of arrival is not yet known. As a result of the incident on 16th May 1943 Cat.Ac/FA was the damage assessment. It was repaired on site and was returned to unit where it is believed to have remained until the unit disbanded on 15th February 1944 (although an AM Form 78 has yet to be viewed to confirm this). After this the aircraft was placed in long term MU storage before being struck off charge on 24th August 1945.
