Halifax DT585 at Lissett airfield.

On the night of 5th / 6th March 1943 the crew of this aircraft undertook an operational flight to bomb Essen. They took off from Lissett at 19.05hrs and released their bomb load from 17,000 feet at 21.10hrs. The flight went without incident and the aircraft landed at Lissett at 00.02hrs. After landing back at Lissett at 00.10hrs the aircraft was then being taxied when it ran into the back of Halifax BB220 which was empty and stationary and having it's undercarriage inspected having just returned from Essen with battle damage. Minor damage to both aircraft resulted.
