On 21st December 1943 this 1659 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was parked and was unoccupied at Topcliffe airfield when it was struck by Lancaster DS615 that was in the process of crashing there. Lancaster DS615 then overturned and was badly damaged by fire. Halifax DT548 appears to have escaped serious damage, it was later repaired and would end its days at 1666 HCU in 1944.
