Halifax DK226 at Leeming airfield.
During the evening of 22nd December 1943 the crew of this 427 Squadron aircraft undertook a cross country training exercise. On their return to Leeming airfield the pilot assumed that the undercarriage was locked down but failed to check this and at 23.25hrs the aircraft went in to land. Unfortunately the undercarriage was not locked down and the aircraft belly landed.
