Halifax DK129 damaged in the air, landed at Topcliffe airfield.

On 26th August 1943 this 1659 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft struck high tension wires soon after taking off from Topcliffe airfield. The pilot was able to remain in control and landed safely at Topcliffe at 22.40hrs soon after with damage to the fuselage, bomb doors, wing leading edge, the starboard main plane and the port inner propeller. The air speed indicator wasn't working, probably due to the pitot tube being damaged or broken off.
