Halifax DG339 at Croft airfield.
On 13th July 1943 this 1664 Heavy Conversion Unit was in the process of taking off from a training flight from Croft airfield at 03.30hrs. As the aircraft picked up speed one of the main tyres burst, the pilot managed to get the aircraft airborne and after a fifteen minute flight a landing was made at Croft but the undercarriage leg collapsed before the aircraft stopped.
