Halifax DG247 at Croft airfield.
At 15.00hrs on 1st October 1943 this 1664 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was stationary on a dispersal point at Croft airfield when the bomb aimer asked the pilot for permission to open the bomb doors. With this granted he operated what he thought was the bomb door levers when they were actually the undercarriage levers and the undercarriage then promptly folded.
