Wellington BK493 at Finningley airfield.

On 22nd September 1943 this aircraft was being flown around the Finningley area so that the 18 O.T.U. instructor could demonstrate to the trainee pilot the feathering propeller procedures. During the flight power was lost so the aircraft was quickly landed back at Finningley at 15.47hrs but the landing was made too fast and without lowering the undercarriage.

Pilot - P/O Henry Cecil Jenner RAFVR (149215).

? - Sgt R Botham. Injured.

Rest of crew - Names unknown.

Henry Jenner received a commission to the rank of P/O on probation on 28th June 1943 and was later promoted to F/O six months later. In theory he should have been promoted to F/Lt on 28th June 1945 but I have not yet located this entry in the London Gazette.
