At 13.02hrs on 24th May 1943 this 18 Operational Training Unit aircraft burst the port main wheel while taxying at Finningley airfield. Minor damage resulted, probably undercarriage related.

Wellington BK273 was built to contract B.124362/40 by Vickers Armstrong's Ltd. at Hawarden and was taken on charge by 12 Squadron at Binbrook on 18th September 1942. On the same date it appears to have been damaged at Binbrook on delivery to the unit because the aircraft sustained Cat.B/FA damage on 18th September 1942 which saw it transported to Brooklands Aviation Ltd. at Sywell for a repair in works. The aircraft was ready for collection on 13th January 1943 and was flown to 38 MU at Llandow on 27th January 1943. The aircraft was taken on charge by 18 OTU at Finningley on 4th May 1943. As a result sustaining minor damage at Finningley on 24th May 1943 Cat.Ac/FA damage was the assessment and a repair on site commenced by a team from Vickers, Weybridge on 1st June 1943. It was returned to 18 OTU charge on 25th June 1943 but then on 5th August 1943 it was in need of a repair on site by by Vickers, Weybridge. It was returned to 18 OTU on 28th August 1943. On 23rd September 1943 it was again in need of a repair on site by a team from Vickers, Weybridge. It was again returned to 18 OTU on 6th November 1943. On 20th January 1944 it was believed to have lost a propeller blade in flight and was then destroyed in a crash at Worksop College. Cat.E2/FA Burnt damage was the damage assessment that then saw it struck off charge on 27th January 1944 having clocked up a total of just over 197 flying hours from new.
