Wellington BK156 at Finningley airfield.

On 26th November 1943 ground crew at Finningley airfield had set this 18 O.T.U. aircraft up on jacks to test or inspect working of the undercarriage when the jacks collapsed and the aircraft fell to the ground.

No crew.


This aircraft was taken on charge by 428 Squadron on 2nd December 1942 as new before transfer to 18 OTU, prior to 6th June 1943 when it sustained damage on landing at Finningley. The aircraft was repaired after this incident in November 1943 only to be ditched following a fire on a navigation training exercise on 23rd February 1944 off Workington, Cumbria.
