Wellington BJ671 at Finningley airfield.

At 01.35hrs on 16th August 1943 this aircraft was having its engines run up on dispersal at Finningley airfield when a fire in the port engine started. The fire destroyed the 18 O.T.U. aircraft. The crew managed to get clear and were not injured.

Pilot - F/O Longin Rebinski PAF (P/1999).

? - F/Sgt "Ozmaxiarz".

F/Lt Rebinski was killed flying with 300 Squadron on 14th August 1944 when Lancaster DV278 failed to return from Ops to Falaise. He and all his then crew were killed and are buried at Grainville-Langannerie, France.
