On the night of 12th / 13th June 1943 this aircraft was one belonging to 102 Squadron that had carried out an operational flight to bomb Bochum, this crew set out at 23.24hrs and had successfully carried out their orders. The aircraft received minor flak damage but the crew were able to make a safe return to base, landing safely at 04.09hrs.

By mid-July 1943 this crew had been transferred to 35 Squadron PFF. On the night of 13th / 14th July 1943 they were flying in Halifax HR819 on Ops to Aachen when the aircraft failed to return. The wireless operator, Sgt Moor, survived and became a PoW but the rest of the crew were all killed and have no known graves, they are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
