Halifax BB374 at Riccall airfield.
During the morning of 10th August 1943 this 1658 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was flown on a training flight. During the flight the starboard outer engine suffered a coolant leak. After an hour flying the aircraft attempted a landing at Riccall airfield with visbility deteriorating at 10.23hrs but the pilot realised that the aircraft would overshoot. He attempted to swing the aircraft to avoid running off the airfield but the undercarriage collapsed.
