At 10.10hrs on 30th March 1943 this 1656 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft suffered the undercarriage collapsing on landing at Lindholme airfield.

Halifax BB266 was built to contract B.124357/40 by the London Passenger Transport Board Ltd. at Leavesden and was flown to 48 MU at Hawarden on 14th December 1942. On 22nd December 1942 the aircraft was taken on charge by 1656 Heavy Conversion Unit at Lindholme. As a result of the damage sustained there on 30th March 1943 Cat.Ac/FA damage was the damage assessment. The repair on site was started on 1st April 1943. It took until 9th July 1943 for it to be returned to 1656 H.C.U. at Lindholme. On 19th October 1944 it swung on landing at Lindholme and the undercarriage collapsed. The damage was assessed as Cat.E/FA and it was written off. The aircraft was struck off charge on 27th October 1944 having clocked up an impressive 752 hours total flying time.
