at 13.00hrs on 6th February 1943 this 1656 Heavy Conversion Unit aircraft was parked on a dispersal point at Lindholme airfield when it was struck by Halifax W7705 that had faulty brakes.

Halifax BB255 was built to contract B.124357/40 by the London Passenger Transport Board Ltd. at Leavesden. It was initially received by 18 MU on 9th November 1942 and was taken on charge by 1656 Heavy Conversion Unit at Lindholme on 29th December 1942. It served in B-Flight. The aircraft minor damage at Lindholme on 6th February 1943 after which Cat.Ac/FA damage was the damage assessment. It was repaired on site but the repair took some months. It was finally returned to 1656 H.C.U. 19th August 1943. On 28th April 1944 it received a Cat.Ac/EA damage assessment following damage by an intruder enemy aircraft over Lindholme. A repair on site was carried out by 60 MU. It returned to 1656 H.C.U. use on 20th May 1944. The aircraft was flown to 48 MU on 4th January 1945 to be stored and was struck off charge on 1st November 1945.
