Halifax BB220 sustained battle damage, further damaged at Lissett airfield.
On the night of 5th / 6th March 1943 the crew of this aircraft undertook an operational flight to bomb Essen. They took off from Lissett at 19.03hrs and released their bomb load from 17,000 feet at 21.19hrs. The aircraft received minor flak damage while over the target area. After landing back at Lissett at 23.58hrs the aircraft was then parked and the crew stepped out of the aircraft while the undercarriage was checked (possibly for damage made on landing or by battle damage). At 00.10hrs Halifax DT585 then taxied into the back of Halifax BB220 and minor damage to both aircraft resulted.
