Hudson AM600 at Thornaby airfield.

Little is known about this incident. On 30th May 1943 this No.1 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit aircraft overshot on landing at Thornaby airfield and ran off the airfield, the aircraft was badly damaged and was not repaired.

Hudson AM600 was built by Lockheed-Vega at Burbank, California and was purchased without contract by the British Purchasing Corporation. It was delivered to the UK by sea, arriving in May 1941. After assembly and acceptance at 24 MU it was issued to No.1 (Coastal) Operational Training Unit at Silloth on 29th July 1941. It then moved with the unit to Thornaby in March 1943. It crashed at Thornaby on 30th May 1943, this saw a Cat.E2/FA damage assessment and it was struck off charge.
