During the late afternoon of 27th April 1943 this aircraft was being flown by an ATA pilot. At 18.20hrs it was landing at Sherburn in Elmet airfield when a swing developed as it came to the end of the landing run, the swing was not brought under control and the undercarriage collapsed.

Tomahawk AH907 was built to British Purchasing Commission contract A-84 by the Curtiss-Wright Corporation at Buffalo, New York, USA and was delivered by sea, arriving in the UK during January 1941. After assembly and testing it was flown to Westlands at Yeovil and was then placed in MU store. Exact dates of transfer are not known. In September 1941 it was taken on charge by 414 Squadron at Croydon. In late 1941 it was transferred to 613 Squadron at Doncaster. In April 1942 it was placed in MU store when 613 Squadron ceased operating the type. On 25th February 1943 it was collected by a pilot from 7 Ferry Pilot Pool and flown to Sherburn in Elmet but while taking off later the aircraft suffered engine failure, the pilot was able to turn the aircraft around and make a successful landing with the wheels down on the airfield. The pilot F/O R Jagger ATA was commended for his actions. On 27th April 1943 it crashed at Sherburn in Elmet while landing, Cat.A/FA damage was the damage assessment and it was repaired on site. After repair it was again placed in MU store where it remained until being struck off charge on 31st December 1944.
