Unidentified Taylor Cub (possible incident) near Pilmoor Junction.

During the morning of 9th October 1943 a pilot flying a Tiger Moth from Lossiemouth to Leicester (via Acklington and Clifton) landed at Tholthorpe airfield at 11.31hrs on account of poor weather. He reported to Flying Control that he had seen what he believed was a Taylor Cub attempting to make a forced landing in a field near the railway line at Pilmoor Junction. This incident was recorded in the Tholthorpe Flying Control log book. To date I have found no other mention that may relate to this incident elsewhere in other records. Whether the landing actually occurred is not known.
