Unidentified 659 Squadron aircraft forced landing.
On 9th July 1943 this "C-Flight" 659 Squadron aircraft crashed in what was a designated low flying area while practicing making forced landings. The aircraft overturned in a wheatfield. The squadron records do not identify the aircraft but state the pilot was not injured and the aircraft was dismantled and returned to Firbeck by 23.00hrs the same day. The squadron was based at Firbeck on the border of Yorkshire and this incident may be in Yorkshire or just outside. C-Flight had been sent to Sledmere on 27th June 1943 so the incident could be in the Sledmere area.
