Unidentified Henley damaged in the air, landed at Driffield airfield.

On 3rd March 1943 this 1613 Target Towing Flight aircraft was flown in rather poor flying conditions, including low cloud, in co-operation with a ground anti-aircraft battery training range at Whitby. Three such details were undertaken on this date and on a second a shell that should have been aimed closer to the banner being towed exploded just under the tail of the Henley. The drogue operator observed the burst and the fuelage being pierced by shrapnel. A safe return and landing was made at their home airfield of Driffield.

Pilot - P/O Warnock.

Drogue Operator - LAC Spence.

P/O Warnock was posted to 41 OTU on 5th October 1943 but remains properly unidentified.
