Explosion at Lissett airfield.

On 2nd July 1943 an explosion in the bomb dump at Lissett airfield killed six members of ground crew. Their names are recorded on a plaque on one of the wind turbines that have been erected on the former airfield site in the last few years.

AC1 Jack Ezra Laycock RAFVR (1696963), aged 20, of Barnoldswick, Yorkshire. Commemorated Runnymede Memorial.
