Pilot - 1st Officer Marvin "Alabam" Dunlavy ATA.

The following website makes vague mentions to a number of minor mishaps this ATA pilot had during WW2 www.airtransportaux.com/members/dunlavy.html

On one occasion which could relate to the incident believed to have been at Sherburn it states that "he was flying a Curtis P-40 when he had some engine trouble and had to make an emergency landing in a field below. He missed the field and landed on top of a tractor while the driver who had seen him coming was running in the other direction. As soon as his plane landed, Alabam jumped out of the cockpit and ran as fast as he could away from the entangled machines."

Further research on the internet would suggest that he was born on 14th October 1916 in Bessemer, Jefferson County, Alabama, USA and died on 17th October 2003. He is buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Bessemer.
