Unidentified Anson damaged in the air, landed at Skipton on Swale airfield.

On 17th May 1943 the crew of this aircraft were undertaking a low level daytime cross-country navigation training flight, the aircraft was based at Jurby on the Isle of Man and typical routes for these training flights by crews attached to No.5 Air Observer School used turning points in South-west Scotland and North-west England. Why the aircraft was flying over Yorkshire is not known. Also on this date an Anson of the same unit flew into telephone wires or a pole near Tadcaster and then crashed with fatal results which would suggest the route on this date did take them across Yorkshire. This unidentified Anson received damage to a wing tip while low flying but the crew were able to land at Skipton on Swale airfield. I presume the damage occurred in the general area of the airfield.
